Student Transportation & Special Needs Transportation
For public and private schools, day treatment plans, partial hospitalization programs, and other programs serving children with special needs, MTM Transit offers specialized student transportation solutions that make quality and safety a priority.
Our diverse vehicle fleet can provide your students with recurring transportation, or we can work with your organization to provide transportation on an as-needed basis. Throughout the country, MTM Transit transports 750 children with special needs, delayed intellectual or developmental skills, and other disabilities to their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with care every day.
Putting Safety First for Student Transportation
The parents and schools of the students we transport appreciate our deep commitment to ensuring each pupil arrives safely at their destination. Our understanding and sensitivity to the complexities of transporting children with special needs and students covered by the McKinney-Vento Act has informed our approach to comprehensive driver credentialing, training, and monitoring.
To ensure every child receives safe, reliable transportation, MTM Transit:
- Conducts frequent background checks and performance reviews on every driver
- Provides specialized, program-specific driver training
- Assigns the same drivers to the same students, every day to ensure consistency
- Schedules parent/guardian meetings to improve communication
- Can utilize on-board cameras to monitor drivers and students at all times
While quality is of the utmost importance, MTM Transit recognizes that providing excellent service isn’t always enough. At a time when education dollars are stretched thin, cost reduction is critical—and alternative delivery models can help you reduce or contain costs. With this in mind, we leverage fuel-efficient vans and sedans instead of traditional school buses. This, paired with enhanced routing and improved vehicle utilization, can reduce student transportation and special needs transportation costs by up to 30%.
