The transit industry has evolved far past the world of traffic signals and stop signs. Now, companies like MTM Transit must rely on technological advances to keep ourselves–and passengers–safe from harm. As technology continues to improve and create opportunity inside and outside of our vehicles, MTM Transit is adapting to these new advances and trends for a passenger-first mindset. Broken down in to three parts, let’s focus on the advances that make our transportation services easy and accessible for all.
Passenger-First Technology Products and Platforms
Rather than focusing our efforts on one simple piece, we expand our focus to all of the technology products that make us more efficient and user friendly. For example, our drivers use tablets for AVL and GPS, and our back-end team uses similar technology for real-time reporting and data collection. We also use state-of-the-art software for things like dashboarding, scheduling efficiency, and route adjustments. Additionally, mobile applications for our passengers and staff make the experience as a whole more user friendly and efficient.
MTM Transit’s tech platforms are numerous and depend upon the unique needs of each individual client. We have strategic partnerships with industry-leading partners to provide whatever specific type of service is needed in the most efficient and cost effective manner. We also use a large number of products that simply make the lives of our employees, passengers, and clients easier as a very basic part of our service offering.
Taking things one step further, MTM Transit recently created our own customizable and modern software platform called Mobility Direct. Mobility Direct was specifically designed by MTM Transit to support our mobility management programs.
As the industry leader in providing these services, MTM Transit understands what is needed by not only our front line professionals–but also by the transit agencies who are responsible for having an eligibility process and most importantly, compliance. Mobility Direct is a white labeled, web-based, and easy-to-use platform that allows the applicant and the transit agency to manage the ADA paratransit eligibility application process from start to finish. Then, the transit agency staff–or MTM Transit’s own mobility management team–can move the applicant through an automated and streamlined process from initial application, to interviews and assessments, to eligibility determination.
Data management falls in to two very important categories that MTM Transit prioritizes for all of our business segments:
- Efficiency: Analysis and planning are key to efficient, user friendly services. If you don’t have the right data, it’s impossible to evaluate and manage any meaningful changes.
- Compliance: MTM Transit is laser focused on meeting all service requirements and accompanying regulations. If it’s measured, we monitor, analyze, and manage it. That starts with collecting the right data and doing the right things with it.
Aside from seeing the need for Mobility Direct and building that software, we always look to adopt cutting edge and proven products that supplement great service. Those products are built, tested, and exist, so we try not to re-invent the wheel. Technology continues to modernize MTM Transit, and we are always looking for better ways to interface and improve processes. Perhaps most importantly: at MTM Transit, there doesn’t need to be a problem or a challenge to drive change.
