MTM Transit and SAMTD to Continue Partnership for ADA Paratransit Eligibility

MTM Transit, a leading provider of transit and mobility management services, is pleased to announce that the Salem Area Mass Transit District (SAMTD) has once again chosen us to operate its Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) paratransit eligibility assessment services contract.

Under this renewed contract, MTM Transit will continue managing the eligibility process for SAMTD’s ADA paratransit system, known as Cherriots LIFT. Cherriots LIFT offers origin-to-destination paratransit services for eligible passengers in the Salem and Keizer areas of Oregon. Since July 2015, MTM Transit has managed this program on behalf of SAMTD, processing applications, conducting assessments, and ensuring seamless access to paratransit services for individuals with disabilities.

“For the past nine years, MTM Transit has been an innovative and flexible partner to SAMTD,” said Scott Transue, Regional Vice President of MTM Transit. “Working with SAMTD, we developed a high-quality mobility management model for all applicants, providing excellent customer service, education, and outreach to applicants and local agencies.”

The new contract, spanning five years with the option for two additional one-year extensions, reflects the trust and confidence SAMTD has in MTM Transit’s ability to deliver exceptional services. In addition to managing paratransit applications and eligibility, MTM Transit’s local team also educates customers on the Cherriots system’s features, including contactless fare options, web/app trip booking, and IVR system access.

Beyond paratransit eligibility services, our partnership with SAMTD extends to a separate contract for managing call center operations and reservations for various transportation services. This includes the Medicaid non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT), RED Line dial-a-ride, CARTS, Cherriots LIFT, and Cherriots programs, as well as actual transportation operation of the Cherriots, Cherriots LIFT, and Shop and Ride programs. This comprehensive approach ensures that SAMTD customers receive top-notch service across all of their mobility needs.

“As a single operator for SAMTD, MTM Transit provides a one-stop-shop approach to mobility management, enhancing familiarity and delivering a world-class customer experience,” said MTM Transit’s Chief Operating Officer Brian Balogh. “Since 2015, we have built a strong partnership with SAMTD, and we look forward to building on our successful foundation into the new contract term.”
