Enhancing Accessibility: A Collaborative ADA Paratransit Eligibility Workshop with the Easter Seals

At MTM Transit, inclusivity isn’t just a goal; it’s a commitment we uphold in every aspect of our operations. Recently, we had the privilege of partnering with the Easter Seals to host a transformative four-day workshop focused on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) paratransit eligibility. The virtual workshop brought together our travel training and assessment teams from across the nation to learn more about best practices for accessible transportation options and ADA paratransit services.

The workshop was a collaborative effort, merging the expertise of our mobility management teams with the guidance of the Easter Seals’ Kristi McLaughlin. Together, we delved into the intricate landscape of ADA requirements surrounding paratransit services and eligibility standards. Kristi’s leadership illuminated the critical importance of accessible transportation while demystifying the paratransit eligibility determination process. Through in-depth discussions and practical exercises, our employees gained a comprehensive understanding of ADA eligibility criteria and application processes. Armed with this knowledge, our team is better equipped to ensure equitable access to transportation services and enable individuals with disabilities to navigate their communities’ public transit and paratransit systems.

The collaboration with Easter Seals was instrumental to the workshop’s success. The organization’s unwavering dedication to accessibility advocacy enriched the learning experience, fostering a deeper appreciation for inclusive practices among our teams.

On behalf of MTM Transit, thank you to Kristi and the Easter Seals for your partnership and dedication to inclusivity! Our mobility management teams look forward to implementing the knowledge you shared into their daily work as we strive to remove barriers in communities nationwide.
