MTM Transit is proud to announce that Chris York has been promoted to Regional Vice President – Central. He replaces Jack Hempstead, who recently transitioned to the role of Vice President of Business Development.
With more than 28 years of hands-on leadership in large-scale paratransit and mobility management programs across the country, Chris is exceptionally well-qualified for this new role. His deep operational expertise, proven ability to build high-performing teams, and commitment to service excellence make him a natural fit to lead MTM Transit’s Central region.
Since joining MTM Transit, Chris has served as a Floating General Manager and Implementation Manager. He most notably led the successful launch of the Pima County, Arizona project, where he built strong relationships with both internal teams and client partners. Throughout his time with the company, he has consistently driven operational consistency, strengthened safety practices, and elevated service quality across multiple markets.
Prior to joining our team, Chris held several key leadership positions with MV Transportation. He spent a decade overseeing the Access LYNX mobility operation in central Florida, a major program that included more than 400 employees and a fleet of 225 vehicles providing both paratransit and fixed-route services. Earlier in his career, he served as Director of Operations for the WMATA paratransit system in Washington, D.C., where he managed more than 1,000 employees and a fleet of over 700 vehicles across five divisions spanning Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
“Chris is widely recognized for his ability to build strong teams, stabilize complex operations, and deliver measurable improvements in service performance, safety, and customer satisfaction,” said Ed Overn, MTM Transit’s Senior Vice President of Operations. “His collaborative leadership style and focus on operational excellence have earned him respect from both colleagues and clients alike.”
Please join us in congratulating Chris on this well-deserved promotion! We are excited to see the continued impact he will make in his new role.
