Winter is a season of giving, and the team at MTM Transit in State College, Pennsylvania exemplified this spirit through a heartwarming initiative. As part of their commitment to community support, our local team, which operates the CATARIDE Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) paratransit service, recently organized a coat drive that resonated deeply within their local community.
Their goal was to collect winter coats to extend warmth to those in need. The team’s efforts resulted in the collection of five boxes filled with winter garments. The beneficiaries of this generosity are individuals served by Out of the Cold: Centre County, a low-barrier shelter that operates around the clock, offering refuge and support to those without homes. Their day shelter provides a safe haven for community members, while overnight, it offers shelter to a limited number of individuals who are unhoused.
Out of the Cold: Centre County relies on the kindness of the community to sustain its services. Essential supplies, including food, clothing, and cold weather gear, are vital for supporting their guests during harsh weather conditions.
Belinda Ilgen, MTM Transit’s local Training and Safety Supervisor, expressed immense pride in the team’s contributions, stating, “I’m so proud of our employees for their donations. Our local shelter was very grateful for the donations and the support given to the community. Many people in our community will be warm this year because of the selfless giving of our employees.”
Thank you to our State College team for providing support and fostering a sense of unity and compassion in your community!
