Since 2015, MTM Transit has partnered with the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Capital Metro) in Austin, Texas for ADA paratransit eligibility certification services. We are excited to announce that MTM Transit and Capital Metro have officially extended our partnership with the intent to continue working together for at least three more years. The contract extension consists of three base years plus two additional option years.
Through its MetroAccess service, Capital Metro provides complementary ADA paratransit to passengers in the Austin metro area whose disabilities or medical conditions prevent them from independently using fixed route bus and rail transportation. On behalf of the transit agency, MTM Transit’s local team determines which passengers are eligible for MetroAccess service, performing more than 1,300 in-person physical and/or functional assessments every year. These assessments evaluate the applicant’s physical and cognitive abilities, and how those abilities may impact their capacity to access Capital Metro’s fixed route systems. MTM Transit first transitioned the program to our management in October 2015 in less than 30 days.
“Over the past six years, our local team has collaborated with Capital Metro to create an eligibility certification process based on industry-best practices and a shared commitment of ensuring passengers have appropriate access to the Austin community,” said MTM Transit’s COO Brian Balogh. “We are honored that Capital Metro has elected to extend our partnership, and are excited to continue ensuring Austin residents can utilize local transit resources to the best of their abilities.”
“MTM Transit has been a great partner to us over the past five years,” added Capital Metro‘s Manager of Eligibility Sara Sanford. “The local assessment team is dedicated to helping our organization ensure accurate, fair paratransit eligibility determinations, and has been a pleasure to work with. We look forward to continuing our relationship!”
