Our Tucson-based team was proud to participate in the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) of Pima County’s recent kickoff event celebrating the launch of its new transportation investment plan, Building for Tomorrow. Held at Pima Community College’s East Campus, the event marked the beginning of what RTA leaders called a “new era of transportation improvements” for the Tucson metro region, focused on investing in transportation infrastructure, connecting communities, and strengthening the future of regional mobility. The event also commemorated the start of the first project included in the voter-approved RTA Next transportation plan.
As the operator of Sun Shuttle services throughout Pima County, MTM Transit was honored to be part of the celebration. Team members connected with community leaders, public officials, transportation stakeholders, and attendees while showcasing two vehicle types used to provide Sun Shuttle service: a dial-a-ride van and an accessible cutaway vehicle. The vehicles provided attendees with an up-close look at the transportation options helping residents throughout the region access work, healthcare, education, shopping, and other essential destinations.
The event also provided an opportunity to reflect on the successful launch of Sun Shuttle services under MTM Transit’s management. In September 2025, we implemented a comprehensive transportation operation for the Pima Association of Governments and RTA, providing ADA paratransit, dial-a-ride, and fixed-route services across Pima County. The operation includes a diverse fleet supported by professional operators, dispatch and call center services, vehicle maintenance, and advanced technology platforms that help deliver safe, efficient, and reliable transportation throughout the community.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of MTM Transit employees for their contributions to the successful transition and launch of Sun Shuttle services. The acknowledgment underscored the dedication of the drivers, dispatchers, maintenance personnel, customer service representatives, and operations teams who work every day to ensure residents have dependable transportation options.
“We were excited to be part of this event and truly appreciate the partnership and recognition from the RTA,” said Lannea Mobley, Regional Director of Operations for MTM Transit. “It was inspiring to see transit recognized as such an important component of regional mobility and community connectivity. We are proud of the role our team plays in supporting Sun Shuttle services, and we’re thrilled to see the kickoff event and the region’s vision for the future receive such a positive reception.”
The new RTA plan, approved by Pima County voters in 2026, will guide transportation investments across the region for the next 20 years, supporting roadway improvements, transit enhancements, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, and other multimodal transportation initiatives designed to improve mobility and quality of life for residents throughout the Tucson area.
We are proud to partner with RTA and the Pima Association of Governments to help advance that vision. As transportation needs continue to evolve, we remain committed to delivering safe, dependable, and accessible services that connect people to opportunities and help strengthen the communities we serve.
