San Joaquin Team Shines at 7th Annual White Cane Awareness Walk and Celebration

The MTM Transit Mobility Management team in San Joaquin, California proudly partnered with the San Joaquin County Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) and the San Joaquin Lions Club to participate in the 7th Annual White Cane Awareness Walk and Celebration. Held in honor of Blind Equality Achievement Month and White Cane Awareness Day, this inspiring event celebrated the white cane as a powerful symbol of independence and empowerment for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

Our team was honored to engage with the community, setting up a table to provide resources on blindness, accessibility, and transportation options. We assisted attendees with completing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) paratransit eligibility applications, offered travel training referrals, and provided information on discounted fare for those able to use San Joaquin fixed-route services. These efforts reflect our ongoing commitment to ensuring accessible, reliable transportation for all.

This year’s event was especially meaningful for our team, as we were honored with a Certificate of Recognition for our dedicated efforts to support the blind and visually impaired community. This acknowledgment underscores MTM Transit’s commitment to fostering inclusion and accessibility in San Joaquin and beyond.

Together, we continue to champion independence, inclusion, and accessibility for all!
