Safety teams at MTM Transit ensure that safety is not just a program, but a way of life. From new hire screenings and training to ongoing education and refresher courses, they instill guiding principles of safety and customer service across all departments. By promoting employee self-responsibility and offering recognition programs like safety bonuses, they foster an environment where safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Delivering Comprehensive Training and Oversight
Our Safety personnel oversee all operator training, evaluations, and safety meetings, ensuring compliance with DOT, FTA, OSHA, and client requirements. They provide classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, extensive securement training, and continual refresher sessions tailored to the needs of each client and operation. Their oversight guarantees that all employees meet stringent qualifications and that safety manuals, policies, and practices are always current.
Monitoring, Compliance, and Proactive Risk Management
Through audits, safety committee leadership, and compliance monitoring, our Safety teams stay ahead of risks. They conduct Quality Assurance inspections, review accidents and incidents to identify preventability, and monitor trends that inform future training needs. By managing insurance claims, workers’ compensation programs, and FTA/DOT drug and alcohol testing, they reduce risks while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
Driving Continuous Improvement and Communication
MTM Transit’s Safety team makes safety a daily focus through newsletters, daily safety messages, posters, and on-site safety boards. They lead safety blitzes, quarterly drills, and executive field visits to reinforce safety priorities. At the corporate level, our Senior and Regional Safety Directors review safety data regularly and hold monthly calls with local teams to identify improvements and celebrate high performers. This steady flow of information and recognition reinforces our vision of every trip is important.
