We’re thrilled to announce that our MTM Transit team in Hilo, Hawai’i, was honored with the Community Partner Award during the Arc of Hilo’s 70th anniversary celebration! This award recognizes our commitment to supporting Hawai’i’s residents with disabilities and our partnership with the County of Hawai’i Mass Transit Agency (MTA), through which we operate the Hele-On Kako’o Island-Wide Paratransit Services.
Through our work with MTA, MTM Transit manages every aspect of the paratransit services program on Hawai’i Island—from conducting eligibility assessments and offering travel training to delivering essential paratransit services. Our local team has also built meaningful community connections by participating in events like the Annual King Kamehameha Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe Race and assisting the Arc of Hilo in building ramps for community members in need.
At the anniversary celebration, the Arc’s CEO Robert Efford shared heartfelt appreciation for the MTM Transit team’s contributions, emphasizing the indispensable nature of our services. Our Program Manager Micheal Bragg proudly accepted the Community Partner Award on behalf of the entire MTM Transit team, celebrating a partnership built on shared values and mutual support. In addition to receiving the award, we contributed to the festivities by donating a cake, adding a special touch to the event!
For 70 years, the Arc of Hilo has been empowering individuals with disabilities to lead fulfilling, community-driven lives, and we’re grateful to be part of their mission to make a positive impact across the island. This award reflects our dedication to creating accessible, supportive transportation solutions for our neighbors on Hawai’i Island, and we look forward to continuing to serve and grow with this incredible community.
